Thirty-year-old Tennessee native Chris Young has come a long way since being crowned the Season 4 winner of “Nashville Star” in 2006. He’s gone on to sell millions of copies of his first four studio albums, amassed six No. 1 singles and toured the world over as bona fide country music star.
Young keeps the momentum going with the release of terrific fifth album “I’m Comin’ Over.” It’s the long-awaited follow-up to 2013 gem “A.M.” and finds Young mixing ballads and honky-tonk anthems — all delivered in his signature twangy baritone — throughout the 11-track, 37-minute release.
Things get off to a great start with “Heartbeat” and the title track, and Young later hits all the right notes on standout cuts “You Do the Talkin’,” “I Know a Guy,” personal favorite “Sober Saturday Night,” “Calling My Name” and set closer “What If I Stay.” Enjoy, y’all. (Jeffrey Sisk)
