The mysterious doom rock throwback band Uncle Acid & The Deadbeats seem to be on a whirlwind as they earn more ears and find more folks at their shows. Their style can be described as a bloody accident smearing together Black Sabbath and the Beatles, and their fourth record “The Night Creeper” is another fun, dark listen.

Uncle Acid coverOf course with success comes skepticism, and there is plenty of that in this band’s corner now. But that’s silly. This band is a morbid, ’60s Satanic sex cult of a good time and this, their fourth record, burns pretty hard on “Waiting for Blood”; swaggering “Downtown” that sounds like it’s sung like a demented John Lennon; the psyche haze of a title cut; and epic closer “Slow Death” that reminds of Sabbath’s slower moments. Damn good band; really fun listen. (Brian Krasman)
