Rootsy rockers Jason Heath & The Greedy Souls earned rave reviews for their first two albums — 2008’s “The Vain Hope of Horse” and 2012’s “Packed for Exile” — and they take things to the next level on fantastic new release “A Season Undone.” Heath and his bandmates have cobbled together a thought-provoking platter that should raise their profile considerably.

Jason Heath CD“Sometimes you have to tear things down to build them back up,” Heath explains. “Sometimes you have to almost destroy yourself to find redemption.”

“A Season Undone,” which features striking cover art courtesy of a photo taken by organist/accordion player Jason Federici, gets off to a terrific start with the anthemic title track and personal favorite “Came to Work.”

Additional standouts on the 11-track, 49-minute album include “Turn On (The Radio),” “So Far From Grace,” “All the Fighters,” “Sophia” and “The Secret Fire.” Do yourself a favor and get to know Jason Heath & The Greedy Souls. You won’t regret it. (Jeffrey Sisk)
