String and vocal trio Low Lily put their own spin on traditional folk music with this delightful self-titled EP. Formerly known as Annalivia, Low Lily come into their own on the six-track effort. Comprised of Liz Simmons (vocals/guitar), Flynn Cohen (vocals/guitar/mandolin) and Lissa Schneckenburger (vocals/fiddle), Low Lily have cobbled together an ear-pleasing mix of traditional tunes and originals.

Low Lily CDThe EP kicks off with an impressive rendition of the traditional “House Carpenter” and Low Lily kick things up a notch with a pair of originals in “The Girl’s Not Mine” and sizzling instrumental “Northern Spy.” Cohen takes center stage on keeper “All Roads Lead to You” and the short-player closes with fiddle medley “Cherokee Shuffle/Lucky.”

If you are a fan of traditional music — whether it be bluegrass, old-time, Irish or English — you’re likely to find something to love about Low Lily. (Jeffrey Sisk)
