Nashville-based musician Steve Lewis shows off his guitar wizardry on latest full-length “Creepers & Vines.” It’s a 12-track sonic tour de force from Lewis, with elements of pop, acoustic, freak-folk and psychedelic rock all mixed together over the course of 49 minutes.
“I feel so good about the sound and the lineup of songs,” Lewis recently told RUST magazine. “The performances from some of my favorite musicians (bass players John Bettencourt and Robert Wason, guitarist Milo Pullman) really came together. Also I love the photography and design from Jay Frederick, who also played all the drums on the record.”
But make no mistake about it, Lewis is the straw that stirs the drink on “Creepers & Vines.” Opening track “Off This Rock” explodes out of the speakers to get the party started and Lewis also delivers the goods on “Mix It Up,” “Hard Bargain,” “Open Your Eyes,” “Big Secret Plan” and “Movin’ to France.” You should find some time to spend with this terrific record.
