There’s pretty much nothing Skoota Warner can’t do when he’s behind a drum kit. The Georgia native has proven that time and again over the course of a career that spans parts of four decades. From R&B, funk and hip-hop to alt-metal, pop and jazz, Warner has more than earned his reputation as “The Drummer’s Drummer.”

Skoota CD“Vignettes” is Warner’s second solo offering — coming 19 years after his “NGA Style” debut — and finds him collaborating with an eclectic group of friends and fellow musicians.

“Skoota Warner is one of the very best rock drummers I have ever worked with, and I’ve worked with plenty over the last 50 years,” says Hot Tuna’s Jorma Kaukonen, who appears on “Vignettes.” “Whether Skoota is behind the kit or in front of the band, quite simply, he gets it done every time. It was an honor for him to ask me to play on his session. I’ll do it again any time.”

With such an array of guest artists, the 17-track, 66-minute ‘Vignettes” never gets boring despite its lengthy running time. Among the standouts here are “Still in Love” (with C-Rayz Walz & Kelli Sae), “U Oughta Know” (with Donna Angelle), “Emsemble of Artjah (featuring DJ Logic), “Before I Let Go My Zydeco” (with Angelle & Sara Devine) and “Mo’ Mobo” (featuring Hot Tuna).” (Jeffrey Sisk)
