Chris Moore continues to impress — and surprise — his audience with latest release “Community Service.” Coming on the heels of January’s first-rate long player “Harmless Blues,” Moore explores all of his musical leanings on this enjoyable six-track EP.
Opener “Shadow Go” is noise rock at its finest (and loudest) and, after another rocker in “Easy Targets,” Moore gets his twang on in protest tune “Free Pass.” Those who remember Moore from his days in influential hardcore outfit Negative Approach should dig the punk vibe of “Joke,” while ethereal eight-minute closer “Watch the Sky (Revisited)” brings the record to a mellow conclusion.
You never know what to expect from Chris Moore — from album to album, and from song to song. And that’s a big part of what makes him special. (Jeffrey Sisk)
