Songwriter/composer Dane Terry is an Ohio native based in New York City, where he makes piano-driven pop influenced by the likes of Randy Newman, Brian Wilson, Elton John and film composer Ennio Morricone. Terry’s latest project “Color Movies” is a theatrical gathering of 11 tunes that I’m guessing will help raise his profile considerably.

Dane Terry CDTerry’s music is a bit of an acquired taste, but those who buy what he’s selling figure to get a kick out of “Color Movies.” There are plenty of songs to like here — lead single “Kids,” “Normal at Last,” “The Working Class,” “Moonshiner’s Boy,” “Clown” and “Volton Destroyer of Stars” — and I wouldn’t be surprised if he delivers a truly special record the next time out.
