Country/folk/pop duo The Wind + The Wave (Patricia Lynn and Dwight Baker) made one of the most impressive debuts of 2014 with the release of near-perfect full-length “From the Wreckage” last summer. The album remains in heavy rotation on my iPod and I eagerly await the duo’s next visit to Pittsburgh.

The Wind + The Wave CDIn the meantime, The Wind + The Wave are serving up a tasty EP to tide their fans over until the next log player. The aptly titled “Covers One” finds Lynn & Baker put their stamp on songs by artists as varied as Sia, R. Kelly, Regina Spektor, Cyndi Lauper, Stevie Nicks, Metric and Simple Minds.

They hit every note on the 28-minute release and soar highest on Spektor’s “You’ve Got Time,” the stellar tune that plays over the opening credits of acclaimed Netflix original series “Orange Is the New Black.” A sultry cover of Lauper’s “Time After Time” is another winner, as are The Wind + The Wave’s takes on Sia’s “Chandelier,” Simple Minds’ “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” and Kelly’s “Ignition (Remix).” This is a great band that needs to be on your radar.
