Nashville-by-way-of-Oklahoma siblings Jason and Paul Watkins are the guys behind pop/rock duo Clemency and they’ve spent the better part of a decade trying to crack into the mainstream consciousness. Their 2008 debut full-length “Vapors” earned praise from critics but the Watkins brothers still were flying along under the radar.
Clemency’s profile began to rise in 2012 with the release of “My Heart is the Eastern Horizon” EP, a dynamic short-player that got a boost from the concept videos the band made for each tune. The title track gained some traction on both iTunes and Amazon, and Clemency soon started crafting its followup.
Latest EP “You’ve Got the Fire” follows the same blueprint. It’s a six-track platter of love songs with videos accompanying each track. The opening tandem of “Color Hits the Canvas” and “Runaways” set the tone, and Clemency later score with “When I’m With You the Fireworks Go Off” and “Let Love Show You the Way.” Here’s hoping their music gets the notice it deserves.
