It’s been a busy couple years for Jared Putnam, the guiding creative force behind indie outfit The March Divide. He released a pair of excellent EPs in 2013 (“Music for Films” and “Music for Television”), followed up with an excellent full length last October (“Billions”) and leaps right back into the fray with new EP “+1.”

The March Divide CD“I was really in a good place writing these releases,” Putnam explains. “I saved some of my favorites for ‘+1’ so they wouldn’t get lost in the mix of ‘Billions.’ I haven’t been taking everything so seriously, which really helped me to open up. I’m finally at a stage in my life where I don’t have to bleed all over the page to write a song.”

Lead single “You Save Me” is the highlight of the seven-track EP, but The March Divide also impress on “Forward Thinking,” “Slow Down,” “Don’t Be So Proud” and “Someone Nice.” Hopefully Putnam’s creative wellspring won’t be drying up any time soon. (Jeffrey Sisk)
