While raspy-voiced singer/songwriters are a dime a dozen these days, Ohio native Jake McElfresh — aka Front Porch Step — managed to rise above the fray on his terrifc 2013 debut album “Aware.” It was a first-rate acoustic debut, highlighted by killer track “Drown,” that left me eager for more from this up-and-coming young artist.

Front Porch CDHappily, the wait wasn’t too long as Front Porch Step return with “Whole Again.” It’s a four-track EP that should tide fans over until McElfresh’s next full-length. The acoustic set features three original tunes — “A Lovely Mess,” personal favorite “Heaven Sent” and the title track — along with a cover of the holiday classic “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.” If you haven’t yet discovered McElfresh and Front Porch Step, here’s a perfect opportunity to remedy that.
