Los Angeles-based prog/pop/rock trio Bella Novella, a band who claims to love Iron Maiden and ABBA “with equal levels of intensity” come into their own on third album “Telemetry.” A single spin of the nine-track release is all it will take for you to understand why Bella Novella are so popular throughout Southern California.

Bella CDFrontwoman Jackie Laws — who’s been compared to icons as varied as Pat Benator and No Doubt-era Gwen Stefani — is the straw that stirs Bella Novella’s drink. Her vocals are powerful and engaging and the dominating presence on “Telemetry.”

Though you will be hard-pressed to find bad song on the record, Bella Novella are particularly impressive on standout cuts like the title track, “Masquerade,” “Lenora,” “Four Walls,” “Eye for an Eye” and “Leave It All Behind.” Longtime fixtures on the West Coast, it’s high time this talented threesome expanded their fan base.
