The male half of country duo Steel Magnolia, Joshua Scott Jones puts his partnership with Meghan Linsey on hold with revealing solo debut “The Healing.” Jones recently recounted his struggle with addiction in People magazine and said the recording of this 11-track record was key to his recovery.

Joshua Scott Jones CDIt’s a consistently excellent album that should allow Jones to elbow his way onto the crowded contemporary country music scene. Rollicking opener “Honk (If You’re Tonky)” gets the party started, and Jones later scores with “DUI,” “Whiskey Anthem,” “Tennessee House,” “Lover Let Me Show You My Heart” and the emotion-fueled title track that brings the album to a close.
